[Cyprus Times] Research centres and higher education in general to be regulated, according to the Greek Ministry of Higher Education

Legislative regulations concerning research centres, which also offer postgraduate studies, as well as the rest of the higher education sector will soon be proposed to Parliament by the Ministry of Education and Culture, Minister Prodromos Prodromou said today.

In statements to reporters during his visit to the Cyprus Institute today, the Minister said that "we have in Cyprus legislation for state universities and for the rest of the higher education sector the conditions are ripe for us to arrange it in such a way that we can respond to the rapid growth and the many great opportunities that our country has."

Cyprus, he continued, is today becoming an international regional centre of university and higher education and research and "the intention is to make Cyprus an international centre of higher education and research.

Educational and research institutions have an important role to play particularly now in green growth and the restructuring of the economy at a wider regional level, he concluded.Source: CNA
