Rescue of a person in danger at sea
Thanks to the immediate response of the Port and Maritime Police, a 52-year-old man, who was helpless in the sea of Akamas, was rescued.
Specifically, around 8am today, information was received at the Coast and Maritime Station in Latchi, that in the sea area of Akamas, a runaway inflatable boat was sailing.
The police shuttle "Agia Irini" immediately went to the area and located the boat in question. After ascertaining that there were no passengers inside the vessel, the members of the Port and Maritime Police began searches to locate possible persons at sea.
Over the course of a few minutes, a 52-year-old man, who was in a state of shock and exhibiting symptoms of hypothermia, was located in the sea, calling for help[/B].After being picked up by the police shuttle, he reported that there were no other persons with him and was safely transported to the port in Latchi.
The 52-year-old, who thanked members of the police for their immediate response and assistance, was picked up by an ambulance, which transported him to Polis Chrysochous Hospital for treatment.
