The Council of Ministers gave the green light to Hatzipandela's proposals, which were taken after consultations with scientists, and approved four new measures concerning, among other things, as reported and in a previous Cyprus Times report,
Specifically, according to an official statement from the Ministry of Health, at today's Cabinet meeting, Health Minister, Mr. Michael Hadjipandela, presented the recommendations of the members of the Scientific Advisory Committee discussed at yesterday's meeting, where the data recorded by the Tracing Team, by the hospitals of the OCYPY and the vaccination coverage rates of the population were analyzed and evaluated.
According to data from the Ministry of Health's Epidemiological Surveillance Unit from 22 to 28 January 2022, 15,494 positive cases were recorded within the community and an increase in daily cases was recorded in all age groups, excluding the 50-69 age group.
The Ministry of Health again appeals to citizens to demonstrate individual responsibility by adhering faithfully and respectfully to health protocols. "The Ministry of Health is constantly vigilant and is making an assessment of all scientific and/or epidemiological data together with the Scientific Advisory Committee," the statement said.
In detail, the Council of Ministers at its meeting today decided:
[A](a) from 4 February 2022, to lift the ban on children without a history of vaccination aged 12-17 years, in restaurants, cafes and theatres.
- Entry to these places will be allowed upon presentation of a negative PCR laboratory test[/B] or Rapid test 72 hours, provided they are accompanied by a parent/guardian who has completed their vaccination schedule.[BRB]
(b) as of February 4, 2022, reducing the time period from 5 months and two weeks to 5 months for administration of the booster/3rd dose of vaccine.
(c) the introduction of the "test to stay" measure in the National Guard.
- The implementation date of the measure will be announced after consultation with the Ministry of Defence.
(d) from 4 February 2022, employees of nursing homes and closed facilities who hold a valid certificate of vaccination or infection will be required to provide a PCR
test or Rapid test of 72 hours and workers with no history of vaccination shall provide a PCR or Rapid test of 24 hours.[/B]
