Rainfall exceeded 100% of normal for the season by December 27 Weather Service data

The average amount of rainfall that fell in free areas from December 1 to the morning of December 27 was 113% of normal for December, according to preliminary data released by the Meteorological Department on Monday.

Specifically, according to the data, the average total amount of rainfall from December 1 to the morning of December 27 was 119.4 millimeters, compared to 105.6 millimeters, which is the normal rainfall for the month.

The highest amount of rainfall during the same period occurred in the Larnaca airport area with 148.9 mm, which is 173% of the normal rainfall for the month of December.

This was followed by Psokas Cross with 225 mm corresponding to 139% of normal, Polis with 133 mm corresponding to 133% of normal and Pano Panagia with 192.3 mm and 120% of normal.

On the other hand, according to data from the Meteorology Department, the lowest amount of rainfall during the period 1 December to 27 December was recorded in Athienou with 46.9 mm corresponding to 78% of normal for the month, in Panagia Bridge with 55.9 mm and 75% of normal for the month and in the Athalassa area of Nicosia with 64.7 mm corresponding to 112% of normal.
