"Raining" the bans on drivers all over Cyprus in the last 24 hours Pancyprian traffic police checks to reduce road collisionsIn addition to 1,300 traffic offences were detected and reported during traffic checks carried out across Cyprus over the last two days, with the majority of complaints relating to offences which have been proven to be the main causes of serious and fatal road traffic collisions.
Specifically, between March 4 5, 2022, in the context of traffic checks carried out throughout Cyprus by members of the Police, with the aim of reducing serious and fatal traffic collisions, more than 1,300 traffic offences were identified for which relevant traffic offences were issued.
During traffic controls, 672 drivers were cited for speeding and 15 for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. 75 persons were cited for non-use of seat belts and 84 drivers for using a mobile phone while driving. Another 206 drivers were reported for violations of traffic signs, while the remaining complaints concerned various other traffic offences.
Traffic controls continue, with the aim of preventing fatal and serious traffic collisions and of instilling good road awareness among all road users.
