Prison sentences were imposed today on two persons, men aged 30 and 35, whom the Famagusta District Court found guilty of committing a number of burglaries and thefts in Free Famagusta. The Court imposed an 18-month prison sentence on the 30-year-old man and a nine-month prison sentence on the 35-year-old man.

The 30-year-old and 35-year-old were arrested last July, 2021, by members of the police, following evidence that had initially emerged during the investigation of a case of burglary of a room where a 25-year-old female guest was staying, in a hotel in Paralimni.

The burglary was committed on July 08 and was reported to the Famagusta CID on the same day by the 25-year-old. According to the complaint, the sum of 240 euros had been stolen from the room.

During their arrest operation on July 29, members of Famagusta CID found in their possession various jewellery, jewellery and other valuables such as watches, perfume and sunglasses, as well as the sum of 4,500 euros.

As it was subsequently established, part of the property recovered had been stolen earlier on July 29, following a burglary of five hotel rooms in the Ayia Napa area

The cases of burglary and theft had been investigated by a Burglary Unit of the Famagusta CID.
