Removed from Prince Andrew who faces child sex abuse charges He will no longer be able to use the title of His Royal Highness
ThePalace of Buckingham has announced that Duke of York Prince Andrew has been stripped of all military titles and royal patronage.[/B] He will not be able to use Her Royal Highness's title in future.
The announcement said that "with the approval and consent" of the Queen, the titles of her third child in line are being returned to her.
"The Duke of York will continue to refrain from undertaking any public engagements," the statement continues, stressing that Prince Andrew will defend himself against a lawsuit filed against him for sexual abuse of a minor "as a private citizen."
Prince Andrew, 61, is accused by the victim of American financier Geoffrey Epstein, Virginia Gioufre of being forced to have sexual intercourse with him while he was 17 years old in 2001.
Although Queen Elizabeth's son denies the allegations, a US judge in New York where the lawsuit has been filed ruled this week that the case can proceed to trial, which has opened up the prospect of the British royal appearing before a jury in a US court.
