The President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Anastasiades chaired today, at the Presidential Palace, a meeting on the opening of the energy market. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Energy, the Energy System Operator, the Board of Directors and the President of the Republic of Cyprus.According to a written statement by the Deputy Government Spokesperson Ms. Niovi Parisinou, during the meeting, the President of the Republic expressed satisfaction with the fact that the timetables are being faithfully followed, according to which the competitive electricity market will be operational in the autumn of 2022.
It was also mentioned that the planning that has been done is proceeding as planned and it was pointed out that the Government is determined to take all necessary steps to ensure a smooth opening of the electricity market for the benefit of consumers.
It should be noted that the project of installing the Competitive Electricity Market Management System is included in the Recovery and Resilience Plan, "Cyprus-Tomorrow" with funding 4.7 million euros.
Finally, the President of the Republic praised the excellent cooperation that exists between the Energy System Operator with RAEK and AHK.
