Israeli President to visit Cyprus in early March, diplomatic sources say The agenda and content of contacts

Israeli President Isaac Herzog plans to visit Cyprus on March 2, before his trip to Turkey, according to diplomatic sources who spoke to the Cyprus News Agency.

The 11th President of the State of Israel is also expected to visit Greece on February 24, followed by a meeting with the President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades, in early March in Nicosia.

Moreover, according to Turkish media, President Herzog is expected to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on March 9-10 in Turkey.

Diplomatic sources told the Cyprus News Agency that during President Herzog's visit to Cyprus, issues related to bilateral relations and trilateral cooperation with Greece will be discussed, while the content of the Israeli President's visit to Turkey will also be discussed.

Regarding efforts to improve Israel-Turkey relations, the same sources said that Nicosia has good reasons to believe that Israel will not make any move that would be to the detriment of Cyprus or Greece.

By President Herzog's move to visit Athens and Nicosia before his contacts with President Erdogan, Israel is clearly showing that it will consult with its allies before having any consultations in Turkey on how to improve their bilateral relations, the diplomatic sources noted. They also spoke of coordination with Athens in the context of trilateral cooperation with Israel.

President Anastasiades had met with his Israeli counterpart last December in Jerusalem ahead of the 8th Cyprus-Greece-Israel Trilateral Summit.
