The President of the Republic convened a National Council[/B] on Thursday afternoon, following a relevant letter received from the General Secretary of AKEL.
According to information from the Presidency, at 6:30 on Thursday afternoon, President Anastasiades will chair a meeting of the National Council at the Presidential Palace. of AKEL Stefanos Stefanou sent a letter to the President of the Republic in which he requested a meeting of the Council of Heads on the consequences and problems arising and affecting our country due to the situation in Ukraine as a result of the Russian invasion.
The letter reads as follows:
"With this letter we request that you convene a meeting of the Council of Chiefs as soon as possible to discuss the consequences and problems arising and affecting our country due to the situation in Ukraine as a result of the Russian invasion.
We would request that Ministers and Deputy Ministers with responsibility in sectors affected by the situation be present at the meeting.
I note that AKEL is ready to contribute to the extent of its own capabilities to counter the negative consequences."
