False and misleading posts on social media containing malicious software programs H update from the Police

In recent days, the Sub-Division of Electronic Crime of the Police received many complaints about false and misleading posts on social media containing malicious software programs - viruses (Virus). There are two types of scams and the public is urged to be cautious.

a) Sending a message (mainly on Messenger) with misleading content about a related video that the recipient of the message is supposedly participating in.

b) Misleading posts on various social media and communication applications, related to a false post about a successful response to Covid 19 in Mexico.

Both of the above cases are considered as malicious.

The public is advised to be particularly careful and avoid activating these posts since they contain viruses that have the potential to steal personal data and passwords as well as the rapid spread of the virus among users.

It is also recommended to report and delete such posts from social media.

In case such a post is activated, it is recommended to immediately check and change the password of the account.
