Roads remain closed in the highlands

Roads remain closed in the highlands of Morphou, while roads in the mountainous areas of the Mahera region that were closed to traffic earlier on Wednesday morning have now been opened, but only for vehicles with all-wheel drive or equipped with anti-slip chains.

Closed specifically are the roads from Pedoula-Prodromos, Pedoula-Pinewood-Kakopetria, Kakopetria-Karvouna, and Kakopetria-Spilia-Kannavia.

Landslides of masses of dirt and stones have occurred in places on the Gerasa-Kalou Chorio road.

Open for vehicles with four-wheel drive or equipped with anti-slip chains are the roads from Palechori-Agro, Palechori-Aska, Aska-Fterikoudi, Alona, Alona-Platanistasa, Lagoudera-Xyliatos, Lagoudera-Sarandi, Lagoudera-Polysty, Lagoudera-Handria, Lagoudera-Madari, and the road from Lazania to Machaira.

All roads in Troodos, from the height of the semi-mountainous villages of Moniati, Pera Pedi, Kalo Chorio, Louvara, Saitta and Karvouna, up to the higher mountainous areas, remain open only for vehicles with four-wheel drive or equipped with anti-slip chains.

Open for all vehicles, but slippery due to frost or water accumulation in various places, are the roads from Klirou-Fikardo and Kalo Horio-Lazanias, as well as the roads from Vavatsinias-Mahira and Lefkara-Vavatsinias.

The situation on the road network is variable due to the prevailing winter conditions.
