Shock has been caused in Los Angeles, where police officers shot and[/B] killed[/B] a 14-year-old girl who was in the dressing room of a clothing store.
According to the Guardian's initial reports, officers fired at a suspect and a bullet went through the wall, striking the girl, authorities said.
The incident took place at the Burlington store in North Hollywood.

While the store was full of customers doing their Christmas shopping, the suspect man threatened a woman with a bicycle lock while throwing items from the first floor.
The incident occurred on Thursday (Dec. 23) at approximately 11:45 a.m. on the second floor of a store when authorities received a call about an ongoing shooting incident inside the store. LAPD officers arriving at the store located an armed man who was attacking a woman, however it was unclear from the beginning what type of weapon he was in possession of.
According to the same sources, the gunman was also shot dead by officers.
Authorities responded to a call of a shooting incident, however no weapon has yet been found in the area.
Still, it remains unclear, according to the report, whether the girl was already inside the dressing room or ran to hide after hearing the shots.
"The tragic incident that resulted in the death of an innocent child has been 'devastating' for everyone involved," the police chief said Thursday night. "I am deeply saddened by the loss of this young girl's life and I know there are no words that can alleviate the unimaginable pain for the family."
The press conference mentioned, among other things, that the man's motives are not yet known. It remains unclear whether the attacker knew the woman he attacked.
