Defence Minister participates in a teleconference of EU Defence Ministers "Concern about possible extension of the conflict" He expressed Cyprus' support for the decision on assistance
Defence Minister Charalambos Petrides participated today in a teleconference of EU Defence Ministers on developments in Ukraine.[DURING THE TELECONFERENCE, THE DEFENCE MINISTERS OF THE MEMBER STATES EXCHANGED VIEWS ON THE POSSIBILITIES FOR ASSISTING THE UKRAINIAN FORCES WITH MILITARY EQUIPMENT.
After condemning the Russian invasion, Mr Petrides expressed his support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people, expressing regret for the humanitarian crisis. He stressed his concern about the possible expansion of the conflicts in neighbouring countries and the possibility of an increase in hostilities.
He went on to express Cyprus' support for the decision to provide assistance through the European Peace Facility assistance measures, assuring on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus the provision of humanitarian assistance.
