Pro-Russia rally in Kato Paphos Cried out against Nazism-Fascism Clashes with attendees

A pro-Russian Federation rally was held yesterday, Sunday around noon, by 350 400 or so residents of Paphos from Russia, Greeks of Pontus, Belarusians, and others.

According to Pafos Assistant Police Commissioner Michael Ioannou, 350 to 400 people gathered yesterday in Kato Pafos holding a pro-Russian Federation event, holding Greek and Russian flags.

The event, said Mr. Ioannou, began with a motorcade from the municipal parking lot on Grigori Afxentiou Street and ended at the port of Kato Paphos, where the participants dispersed.

Some were in vehicles and others marched along the seafront of Poseidonos Avenue.

Participants shouted slogans in favour of Russia and against fascism and Nazism.[/B] During their passage through leisure centres there were verbal confrontations with bystanders.

The event, which took place in the discreet presence of the Police, ended peacefully.
