Stefanos' public exhortation that the prominent party members watch what they say was followed by Irini Charalambidou's post in which she clarifies that she will not return to the issue (meaning that of George Pamporidis) although she is obviously bitter.
The brawl Stefanou-Charalambidou was the result of the MP's statements on "Politis" radio where she had said that she considers it self-evident that George Pamporidis is not an option for AKEL and that for ten years she had been on panels and in Parliament facing disparaging references to AKEL and Demetris Christofias both on the part of Mr.
The General Secretary of the party gave a clear answer. "Do you mean that other prominent cadres appear to be saying their opinions in public about names? We would not do any other job we would not have a party."
"I will not revisit the issue. And I am sorry if I have displeased anyone, especially the SG who I deeply respect," Irini Charalambidou said in a post today.
"I serve the left and will always honor it. And I am judged for what I say and not for what others claim I say, which is why I am uploading the audio of my intervention to Katerina Eliades today. Never but NEVER did I think that an AUTHORITY POLITICAL statement would be taken as a colleague said that I disrespect process of a party that has honored me, (HOWEVER I agree) and hosted me for many years. I never believed the reports that a SYNAGER and even proud of his party with derogatory references to AKEL, the former President of the Republic Dimitris Christofias , could be an option to be discussed in the collective bodies of the Left. In other words, if a DISY MP said that he would never vote for an AKEL party member of the political bureau with similar derogatory references, would he be accused of disrespecting his party and interfering with procedures? It goes without saying Don't go completely mad. This was not interference in proceedings it was the obvious thing to do and I was asked a personal question and I responded consistently to what I have been doing since day one of my election. Defending the left and those who fight it and denigrate it. I will not revisit the issue. And I am sorry if I have displeased anyone, especially the SG who I hold in the highest esteem."
