Pavlos Polakis is referred to the Ethics Committee of the House of Representatives, after the tension that was caused during yesterday's session.
The thermometer in the chamber of the House of Representatives rose sharply during yesterday's session, when the MP of SYRIZA began to speak in high tones on the issue of Novartis.
The chairman of the session, Charalambos Athanasiou, called on Polakis to speak on the topic of the session, which was the Development Ministry bill, and took the floor away from the SYRIZA MP when he did not comply, hanging up the microphone.
Subsequently, Mr Polakis remained on the floor of the Parliament for half an hour, and finally the session was adjourned, by decision of the Presidium of the Parliament.
At the opening of today's sitting, Speaker of the Parliament Konstantinos Tasoulas noted that the picture of yesterday's sitting was "disheartening", stressing that "the Parliament is not just any place where we take the floor to say what we want and do what we want".
"Today the country and Parliament are run democratically and freely and we will not turn either the country or Parliament into something third world. Neither the Parliament nor the country will become hell by force."
For his part, SYRIZA spokesman Yannis Ragousis argued that the removal of Polakis' speech was an "unconstitutional, coup d'état action by the presiding speaker", which, he noted, crossed the line.
Taking the floor again today, Pavlos Polakis noted that he did not occupy the floor of the Parliament, while he described the fact that he was deprived of his speech as a breakdown of the parliamentary process.
The President of the Parliament then announced that Polakis was referred to the Ethics Committee of the Parliament.
