Parliament's Defence Committee visited National Guard outposts "The most important thing is to decisively support the upgrading of the National Guard's strength", Sizopoulos' message
The outposts of Kolokasidis and Vlona were visited today by a delegation of the parliamentary Defence Committee ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
"It is within the framework of the annual activities of the parliamentary Defence Committee to visit various outposts of the National Guard, as a form of expression of appreciation for the work performed by the members of the National Guard, both permanent and conscripts," said the Chairman of the Committee and President of the EPP, Marinos Sizopoulos, speaking to CNA regarding today's visits.
Accompanied by the Chief of the AF, Lieutenant General Demokritos Zervakis, the delegation visited the outpost at Kolokasidis Hill and the Vlona outpost at Akaki.
These, he said, are two outposts which are of particular importance given the critical area in which they are located and the work they have to perform.
Sizopoulos said that during the visit they had the opportunity to have a personal understanding of the living conditions of our soldiers as well as the services they perform.
"As we have stressed on both occasions, in this period of asymmetrical threats to our country from the occupying power, for members of the Defence Committee, regardless of their party affiliation, what is most important is to decisively support the upgrading of the Force's strength through the supply of new and modern weapon systems, the improvement of the living conditions of the Force's personnel and, above all, the strengthening of its human resources," he said.
