The former Health Minister rebuts and denies President Anastasiades - He refutes what the President of Cyprus said about his desire to take over another ministry - He invited him to refer to the two close colleagues who were present - "I hope that his memory has not begun to deceive him"

A few hours after President Anastasiades' references to the former Health Minister in the government of George Pamporidis, came the counterattack and denial from the latter.

In a written statement, Mr. Pamporidis wanted to respond to what the President of the Republic said in an interview with SIGMA television station that
that Mr. Pamporidis could have been a minister until today, if his request to go to either the Ministry of Commerce or the Ministry of Defence was granted, with him denying it, saying that if he continues it will be in the Ministry he took over in the first term of office.

In contradicting the President, he expressed sadness as it is not true. "I want to hope that his memory has not begun to deceive him," he noted while urging President Anastasiades to refer to their two close associates who were present, he said, when he attempted to propose a portfolio other than that of Health in his office immediately before he announced the composition of the new Cabinet in February 2018.

"I hope that when he talks to them, he himself will remember exactly what he interrogated. I hope I don't have to come back. The institution of the President of the Republic is the basis of the constitution and it is sacred. We all have a responsibility to protect it and not to trivialise it. As far as I am concerned, this is what I have done and this is what I intend to continue to do."
