In the National Guard yesterday 22 new cases were identified while theactive cases remain at 573. Another 105 National Guardsmen who are close contacts are off duty and have been quarantined.
Speaking to the Cyprus Times Press Spokesman of the Ministry of Defence Christos Pieris appeared reassuring, stressing that there has been a significant decrease in the last days while recalling that there were times when we reached up to about 1000 cases.
"The morbid actually represents 1.5% of the force so we are at good levels given that there are thousands of cases in the rest of the community. The measures are strictly observed in all the camps," he said."
At the same time cases in the police are also down with 185 incidents and close contacts at 46.
As the Cyprus Times Times has been informed that there was a serious problem in the police force in the previous period due to increased cases and the leadership of the force had given instructions for internal movements.
