Over 2.1 million new cases of COVID-19 around the world 7.190 new deaths
New cases of COVID-19 around the globe rose to record levels for another 24 hours, topping 2.1 million yesterday, while new deaths totalled 7,190, according to a count by the website Worldometers. Most cases and deaths were recorded in the United States.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 worldwide since the beginning of the pandemic exceeded 295.5 million on Wednesday, while international deaths reached 5.47 million.
Some 256.1 million have recovered from the disease, while there are currently 34 million active cases, with 99.7% having mild symptoms and 0.3% being severe/critical. Of the closed cases, 98% have recovered and 2% have died.
Most cases yesterday, a total of 567,696, were recorded in the US, while the country counted 1,847 new deaths. In second place was France, where new cases yesterday totalled 271,686, while there were 351 new deaths. The third country in terms of number of cases yesterday was the United Kingdom with 218,724 cases and 48 new deaths, followed by Italy with 170,844 new cases and 222 new deaths and Spain with 117,775 new cases and 116 new deaths.
The countries with the most cases since the beginning of the pandemic are the United States with 58 million cases. cases and 851,439 deaths, India with 35 million cases and 482,551 deaths, Brazil with 22.3 million cases and 619,426 deaths, the United Kingdom with 13.6 million cases and 148,941 deaths and France with 10.6 million cases and 124,563 deaths.
