Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar said that in the past Turkish Cypriots were expelled from 103 villages and forced to live in ghettos for years and that the struggle for survival in our land continues.
A statement from the presidency said Tatar said that the Turks of Cyprus resisted because they knew that Turkey would come one day and that they had always trusted it.
Despite the embargoes and all kinds of restrictions, with Turkey's support, efforts are being made to strengthen the state and protect national interests in line with developments in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Turkish Cypriot leader said.
He reiterated that an agreement can only be reached through the cooperation of two separate, sovereign and equal states living side by side and that they will never agree to the federation game, which envisages the withdrawal of Turkish soldiers from the island under the umbrella of the EU and a structure in which the majority rules the minority.
