Organized parents speak of the failure of the "test to stay" in kindergartens "Not only were positive cases not detected in time, but unwanted suffering was caused to our children"

For failure of the test to stay in kindergartens,, organised parents say on the basis of a survey of their members.

According to a statement by the Pancyprian Confederation of Federations of Associations of Parents and Guardians of Public and Community Kindergartens in a nationwide survey through its Member Associations, "it became apparent that the implementation of the existing measure not only did not detect positive cases in time but caused unwanted suffering to our children".

"Today and after one week of the implementation of the measure, more than 50% of our Kindergarten classes remain closed and cases are detected not only on the day of the Rapid Test but also on the other days of the week after the onset of symptoms. There are cases where children from 01/01/2022 until today have been absent for more than 6 weeks from kindergarten due to the fact that they are considered contacts without ever getting sick," it is stated.

It is added that "as we strongly stated in the previous days, the measure was implemented only to satisfy requests of a specific set and would not have a substantial effect, which was confirmed by the picture that exists today."

According to the statement, "despite the doubts expressed by some that parents would not be consistent in testing we have shown that in all this the only people who seemed consistent were parents who responded seriously to the testing of their children regardless of whether the overwhelming majority were in favour of Self-Testing."

The position is expressed that "the burden of responsibility for the failure of the measure, the inconvenience and the psychological pressure placed on our children is not only on the Ministry of Health who tabled this measure but also on the PDED who recommended it. It has been 10 days and the officials still have not arranged a meeting to discuss with us the implementation of the Test to Stay which we proposed a month and a half ago."

As parents, it is noted among other things, "we are not going to remain silent to all that is happening against us and against our children, nor are we going to tolerate it."

"If after the discussion with the Minister of Health they continue to implement ineffective and insubstantial measures that put pressure on the psychology of our children, then the Executive Council of our Confederation will meet to decide what measures we will take since the State no longer seems to be interested in us and our children," it is stated.
