Another symptom of coronavirus could be skin rashes, according to a new scientific study.
The study, conducted atKings College London, involves the reporting of symptoms by 336,000 British users of a special mobile phone app.
Researchers found theunusually high proportion of participants who reported skin rashes as a symptom. The figure is 8.8% of those who tested positive for coronavirus. Furthermore, 8.2% of users reported these rashes along with the classic symptoms of coronavirus (cough, anosmia), but they were not tested and so it was not determined whether they were sick or not.
Following this finding, the research team created a new database specifically for these cases, and asked 12,000 people with skin rashes to send in their photos. Of those, 17% who were diagnosed Covid-19 positive reported the rashes as the first symptom of the disease and for 21% the rashes were their only symptom.

It should be noted that although Covid-19 is a respiratory disease, some cases were previously reported in China and Europe of patients who became seriously ill and developed this type of skin rash.
Lead author of the study Dr. Veronique Bataille said: "Many viral infections can affect the skin, so it's not too surprising that we find this in Covid-19 patients. However, it is important that in some cases, the skin problem may be the first or only symptom of the disease. So, anyone who finds these rashes should immediately be put into isolation and tested for Covid-19 as soon as possible."
Dermatologist Justine Kluk said in this regard that people should observe their skin so that early diagnosis and detection of cases can be achieved.
Dr. Tanya Bleiker, president of the British Association of Dermatologists, said the findings of the study are very important because "skin symptomscan play an important role in identifying people who are infected and remain asymptomatic."
The researchers now suggest that dermatological problems should be officially recorded as symptoms of Covid-19.
