In 3 samples in the previous days, the Omicron 2 sub-variant was detected, which was only a matter of time before it was detected in Cyprus, according to experts.
According to the Cyprus Times, Omicron 2 was detected in 3 of the samples sent for specialized tests in the last 3 weeks.
However, speaking to the Cyprus Times, Dr. Petros Karagiannis and asked to comment on whether we should be concerned with the new Omicron sub-variant, he stressed that Omicron 2 is a little more contagious than Omicron but is close in pathogenicity to Omicron 2, so there is not much to worry about.
He reiterated, however, that we should finally take protection measures and the individual responsibility of each citizen more seriously so that the virus does not spread so easily.
