This is a new option in the model range where the all-electric powertrain option is combined with state-of-the-art Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
With e-Hybrid, Jeep® has created an innovative system where, for the first time, 48V hybrid technology also enables pure electric drive under certain conditions. The heart of the Renegade e-Hybrid is a new 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine running on the Miller cycle with an output of 130 hp and 240 Nm of torque. The thermal engine - designed specifically for hybrid systems - works with an equally new 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which also incorporates a 48V electric motor rated at 15 kW, while the 48V water-cooled battery and BSG power motor contribute to the e-Hybrid offering top levels of comfort and efficiency, but more importantly, drive capabilities using only the electric motor.
The e-Hybrid Jeep Renegade features Silent Start without the use of the heat engine and all-electric drive in congested traffic conditions (e-Queuing). At the same time, it can move at low speed purely electrically by simply releasing the brake (e-Creeping) while parking manoeuvres are performed without the use of the thermal engine (e-Parking)
In addition to these purely electric functions, the e-Hybrid offers energy recovery during deceleration (with or without the use of the brake) and boosting the performance of the thermal engine (e-Boosting), so that the former always operates at its optimum level of efficiency.
The features of the new e-Hybrid system further enhance the safety and comfort offered by the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) fitted to the Jeep Renegade. With Level 2 autonomous driving capability, the Renegade e-Hybrid breaks new ground in electrified driving.
