Budget 2022 first truly linked to reforms - "There is a will to move forward and we must all collectively look to the next day"
The 2022 budget is a budget of sustainable growth, green transition and welfare state and the first truly linked to reforms to be approved by Parliament, Finance Minister Konstantinos Petrides said after the 2022 state budget was passed by the House of Representatives on Friday night.
In his remarks, Petrides expressed satisfaction with the passage of the 2022 budget and thanked the parties that voted for the budget, "this national affair called the budget," which are DISY, DIKO, DIPA and independent MP Andreas Themistocleous.
He said he also expects the related reforms accompanying the budget to be passed.
He noted that "it is a budget that allows us to move on to the next day."
"But it is the budget that is the first truly reform-linked budget that is approved by Parliament, because part of it is the Recovery Fund that is intertwined with the reforms," he stressed.
Also, the Finance Minister said that "it is a budget that serves the needs of today but looks to tomorrow to make those structural changes that will help us move forward."
Petrides also said that "we have achieved enough during the crisis" and "we have proven that the Cypriot economy is a resilient economy with much better results than other more mature European economies."</B-14
