An arrest warrant has been issued by the police against a 47-year-old man, who allegedly fled the scene of the first fatal road accident last night, involving 20-year-old Gabriela Savva from Larnaca.

The news of the young woman's death plunged her relatives into mourning and she was recorded in the blacklist of asphalt victims for the year 2022.

The Cyprus Times reports testimony places a 47-year-old man at the scene, as the driver of the second vehicle that violently collided with the car driven by a 24-year-old man, with the unfortunate Gabriella as a passenger.

Same reports say that the 47-year-old's wife went to the scene and presented herself as the driver of the vehicle while he fled the scene and is wanted by authorities.

Both 20-year-old Gabriella and the 24-year-old driver of the fatal vehicle, according to initial investigations were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the vehicle, resulting in the unfortunate young woman's death on New Year's Eve. The 24-year-old was kept for hospitalization, but is out of danger.

It is recalled that the fatal collision occurred around 1 yesterday evening on the old Athienou - Aradipou road when, under circumstances under investigation, the 24-year-old's vehicle deviated from its course and entered a ditch, and subsequently returned to the road and collided violently with another vehicle moving in oncoming traffic.
