Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko attended nuclear weapons exercises.
Russian President Vladimir Putin today oversaw nuclear weapons exercises from the Kremlin operations center along with his close ally, his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko, the Russian president's press office said.
Supersonic missiles
Russia struck sea and land targets with ballistic missiles and cruise missiles as part of strategic nuclear exercises overseen by the two men.
The annual exercises included launches of the Kinzhal and Tsirkon supersonic missiles and some other weapons, the Kremlin said in a statement.
Announcement on the exercises
The Kremlin has announced that these exercises are part of a regular training process and denied that they are a sign of an escalation of the Ukrainian crisis.
In Rostov
At the same time, Russia's Investigative Committee today launched an investigation into reports by Russian media that a Ukrainian missile exploded in Russia's Rostov region about 1 km from Rostov. from the border, the agency said on its website.
Reports of the incident were reported earlier by the Russian news agencies RIA and TASS, which cited an anonymous law enforcement source.
