The Ministry of Health announces that today, 3 February 2022:
- No patient deaths were recorded with COVID-19 as the final cause of death, and therefore the total number of deaths remains 736.
- 222 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 69 are in serious condition. A proportion of 74.78% of hospitalized patients have no history of vaccination.
- 19 post-COVID patients who have ceased to be infectious (declassified cases) continue to be hospitalized intubated in serious condition due to COVID in an ICU.
- A total of 115,470 disease detection tests have been performed using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 3,078 (positivity rate: 2,67%) new cases of COVID-19 have been detected by the PCR and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 265,945.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of patients with COVID-19 were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with a final cause of COVID-19 disease remains 736, of which:
- 460 males (62.5%), and
- 276 females (37.5%).
The average age of deaths from the disease is 76.3 years.
B]B. Inpatients:
In total, 222 patients
of COVID-19 are hospitalized in the hospitals of the OCYPY, of which 69 are in serious condition or on NSAIDs.
Of the 69 patients in serious condition, 30 are intubated, 5 are in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) off ventilator and 34 are in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Γ. Positive cases COVID-19 (PCR test and antigen rapid test):
Of the 115,470 diagnoses performed, 5,552 were made by the molecular method (PCR) and 109,918 by the antigen rapid test method, 3078 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting in the following:
- 34 cases from 417 samples obtained through the contact tracing procedure of already confirmed cases.
- 41 cases out of 2,625 samples taken in the framework of passenger screening at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 344 cases out of 2,115 samples taken through private initiative.
- 27 cases out of 364 samples taken by the Microbiological Laboratories of General Hospitals.
- 1,633 cases out of 47,977 samples tested by the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 998 cases out of 61,941 samples tested by the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
- 1 case from 30 specimens obtained under the Personal Physician Referral and Special Group Screening Program through the Public Health Clinics.
In addition, the following tests were performed without detecting a case:
- 0 cases from 1 specimen obtained under the closed facility screening program.
