Over 10 thousand euros of stolen goods from a jewelry store in Paphos - Intensive investigations to identify the perpetrators Immediate police response but the perpetrator got away
The value of the stolen jewellery, which was stolen by unknown persons from a jewellery shop, yesterday at dawn, according to the spokesman of the Paphos Police Directorate and Head of the CID Michael Nicolaou.
According to Mr Nicolaou, the investigations for the arrest of the perpetrators are continuing at an intensive pace and a number of statements have been taken.
Mr Nicolaou said a jewellery shop owner reported to police that at around 04:45 yesterday
the jewellery shop alarm sounded.Members of Paphos CID went to the scene and cordoned it off and a scientific examination was carried out. Police are collecting various evidence to identify the perpetrators, he said, and are also conducting examinations in the area to secure testimony as to the perpetrators. The jewellery shop had an anti-theft system that emitted smoke which, he said, prevented the alleged perpetrators from extorting more property and leaving by breaking only one window.
He further stated that upon further examination, the alleged perpetrators allegedly initially climbed up aroof of a neighboring building, walked on the tiles and approached the jewelry store building adjacent and small round skylight type window, which was covered with tile, after removing the tile the offender entered through the window and ended up inside the jewelry store after cutting off a piece of the store's false ceiling. He added that due to height, the offenders may have used some kind of ropes or straps.
