A new window of cooperation between Cyprus and Saudi Arabia[/B] is opening, Defence Minister Haralambos Petrides said when asked about the visit to Nicosia of the Chief of the Armed Forces of Saudi Arabia.[/B]
Asked about this after the Cabinet meeting, Mr. Petridis said that the Saudi official has been in Cyprus since yesterday, noting that "a new window of cooperation (of Saudi Arabia) is opening with the Ministry of Defence, with the National Guard."
Asked whether bilateral agreements will be signed, Mr. Petrides said that "there is a memorandum of cooperation, which will be signed very soon. A new cooperation is beginning and the head of the Saudi Armed Forces is here for this very purpose."
The cooperation is "in its initial stages. After the United Arab Emirates, we are now moving forward with this new cooperation that is taking shape," he concluded."
