Every MINI model that includes the word 'Cooper' in its name embodies the unique, British sporting spirit of a partnership that dates back 60 years.

For motoring enthusiasts, the name John Cooper is inextricably linked with success in Formula One racing and with particular MINI models. Alec Issigonis' classic Mini formed the basis for a design of small and compact cars that was completely new at the time and is still in use today. With a light and rigid body, front-wheel drive, wide track, the MINI was a low-cost, economical car for everyone. However, John Cooper immediately recognized the sporting potential of the classic Mini and that's when the collaboration between the two genius engineers began.

John Cooper initially built a small batch of 1,000 vehicles, whose modified engine, with capacity increased to almost 1,000 cc, produced 55 hp and a top speed of 135 km/h. Cooper also offered a transmission with denser shifting, a more precise selector, disc brakes on the front wheels and wider tires. In addition, the roof had a contrasting colour scheme and the interior was two-tone. Thus the first Mini Cooper came on the market in September 1961. Milestones in its racing career were the overall classification victories achieved by Mini Cooper S in the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965 and 1967. From then on, a thoroughly successful partnership with a number of models bearing the Cooper logo began. The acquisition of the Rover Group by BMW in early 1994 opened up completely new perspectives for MINI.

Even in the latest generation of the model, the MINI Cooper offers increased levels of driving fun through various forms. The Cooper name is now given to the entire MINI model range. The brand's first, all-electric model is called the MINI Cooper SE. Powered by a 135 kW/184 hp electric motor, it combines sustainable mobility with distinctive fun-to-drive performance, expressive design and luxurious quality. On the other side is the new MINI John Cooper Works GP where, with a 306 hp four-cylinder turbo engine, it is the fastest MINI ever built for the road. Whether it's driving with zero emissions in everyday city traffic, or racing aiming for the best track times

See the full range of MINI Cooper, be it the three- or five-door models, or variants such as the Convertible, Clubman and Countryman, even in its electric version, at the showrooms of the Pilakuta Group in all cities.
