It was reported at around 3.15am today by a resident of Larnaca district that, between the hours of 5pm yesterday and 1.30am today, unknown persons stole his car[/b], which was parked outside his home.
It was a MERCEDES E CLASS car, grey in colour, with registration numbers NMP297. Note that, the car was unlocked with the keys in the ignition.
On this occasion, the Police again remind the public to be particularly careful and take measures to protect their property.
Even in the event that we are away from our car for a few minutes, we take all those measures that would prevent its theft or the theft of property from our vehicle, taking into serious consideration that thieves are lurking to steal our property.
We park our vehicle in supervised parking areas, as it is safer.
We make sure that we have removed the vehicle keys, lock the doors and fully roll up the windows of our vehicle.
During the night it is preferable to park our vehicle in places where there is plenty of street lighting. Avoid dark or remote places.
If your vehicle has an anti-theft system installed, make sure it is switched on and check regularly that it is working properly.
In general, the public is urged to be vigilant and cooperate closely with the Police and if they spot anything suspicious, such as persons or vehicles moving suspiciously, they should immediately inform the local Police Station or contact the Citizen's Contact Line on 1460 or the emergency hotline on 112 and 199.
