The Russian invasion of Ukraine rages on for a 26th day, with Moscow's troops continuing the pounding and leaving behind dead civilians and rubble.

According to Ukrainian media outlet Ukrainiskaya Pravda, Russian and Ukrainian delegations are expected to resume online negotiations today, with the situation in Mariupol described as a terror operation, following the Russian ultimatum to surrender the city and Ukraine's negative response. "There is by no means any question of the Ukrainian armed forces laying down their arms and surrendering Mariupol to the Russian army," Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk said today.

Yesterday can be described as a night of terror, as several powerful explosions were heard in the Ukrainian capital Kiev. According to the mayor of Kiev, apartment buildings and other buildings in the historic Podilsky district in the northwestern part of the city were hit and fires broke out, resulting in one person losing his life.

At the same time, it was reported that a nursing home in the city of Kremina in Luhansk was hit on 11 March, with reports of 56 people killed. Ukrainian authorities report that the survivors were abducted by Russian forces and taken to a Russian-controlled area of Luhansk.

Meanwhile, reports suggest Vladimir Putin has agreed to meet at "some point" with Volodymyr Zelensky, with the Ukrainian president expressing readiness in statements yesterday, but warning that if any attempts to negotiate fail, it could mean the struggle between the two countries could lead to "a third world war".
