Dialogue on the increases in the Limassol port is underway Another 15 days requested by the competent bodies Call from Hatzigiannis to reach a solution soon Huge scandal with the sale of the Port, says Kostas Kostas

Dialogue has begun on the issue of increases in Limassol port fees, but those involved who attended the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism today said that they have not yet come to a conclusion and that an additional fifteen days are needed.

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee, DISY MP Kyriakos Hatzigiannis, appealed to the stakeholders to reach a solution soon so as not to impose increases in Limassol Port fees that will have a measurable contribution to inflation and hurt the purchasing power of consumers.

He said that the Commission is at their disposal to help with the aim of not imposing these increases which will be passed on to consumers.

AKEL MP Kostas Kostas said that the Auditor General's report on the privatisation of Limassol Port's commercial activities dated 5/4/17 is damning with data and details on the scandalous procedures followed until the signing of the contracts.

He said he considers as unacceptable the fact that the Parliament, for four years now, has been waiting for the Attorney General to examine the Auditor General's report to see if there are criminal or other responsibilities, as requested by the Audit Committee in May 2018. He added that AKEL is waiting to see the Attorney General's response to the relevant letter sent to him by AKEL Secretary General Stefanos Stefanou 15 days ago.

He reiterated that what happened with the sale of the Limassol port is a huge scandal for which the government's responsibilities are grave.
