Limassol Association ASPIDA calls for relaxation of the restrictive measures "The measure banning the unvaccinated in catering establishments must be abolished immediately"
Appeal to the Government and the Health Minister to relax the restrictions for the benefit of catering premises that are in a "desperate financial situation" is being called for by the Association of Catering Professionals, Limassol "ASPIDA".[/B]
In a statement, the Association, which was recently formed, said that "the measure banning unvaccinated people in catering establishments should be abolished immediately, as well as the demonstration of a health certificate, making us police officers."
It also calls for dancing to be allowed "for people who just want to relax and escape from the psychological pressure brought on by the coronavirus pandemic in general" and also for the capacity limit in eating places to be increased or abolished.
Limassol's professional restaurateurs note that they have been irreparably affected over the past 2.5 years by the pandemic, "while the state's assistance is minimal" and recall that Limassol has been particularly affected by the cancellation of the carnival parade, but also by the local lockdowns imposed in the past along with Paphos.
"We call on the Minister of Health and the Government to finally understand the desperate economic situation of the catering sector in Cyprus and finally decide to relax the measures, as many European countries have done," the statement added.
At the same time, the Association warns that "in the absence of the relaxations that will allow catering establishments to operate in a sustainable way, we too will be forced to take strong measures to protect our businesses and our staff."
