US President Joe Biden said that Americans in Ukraine, apart from diplomats, should leave the country because of the threatened Russian invasion
Biden's statements were made during a joint press conference with the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, following the meeting between the two leaders at the White House, during which they mainly discussed the tension caused by the build-up of Russian military forces near the border of Ukraine.
Biden noted that he would under no circumstances want to see Americans in the midst of crossfire in the event of an invasion.

US President Joe Biden, flanked by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, also said that the United States, Germany and NATO are ready to respond if Russia invades Ukraine.
At the same time, however, he stressed that the diplomatic route is the most appropriate for all sides in this confrontation.
The United States has pledged to impose a series of economic sanctions on Moscow if it invades Ukraine.
