Important decisions for the Polis Chrysochous Hospital at a meeting at the Ministry of Health
A meeting was held today at the Ministry of Health between the Minister of Health, a delegation of the OCYPY and the Mayor of Polis Chrysochous to discuss the problems of the Polis Chrysochous Hospital.
According to a press release of the Municipality of Polis Chrysochous, a meeting was held today, Wednesday 29 December, at the Ministry of Health, in the presence of the Minister of Health Michael Hadjipandela, the Mayor of Polis Chrysochous Yiotis Papachristofis, the President of OKYPY, the Executive Director General of OKYPY, the Executive Director of the Limassol-Pafos OCYPY and the Scientific Director of the Limassol-Pafos OCYPY, as well as the Members of Parliament of the Paphos District, following the meeting held in Polis Chrysochous on 14 December 2021, to discuss and resolve the problems of the Hospital.
As the Mayor of Polis Chrysochous states in his statement, the meeting took place in a particularly tense atmosphere between himself and the leadership of the OCYPY, where finally, after a great struggle and intense debate, after the personal intervention of the Minister of Health himself, solutions were provided and it was decided to improve the operation of the Accident and Emergency Department (AED) of the City Hospital, with the operation from 01/01/2022 of the Chemistry and Radiology Department with two shifts from 7 o'clock.00 a.m.- 8.30 p.m. and Saturday mornings (arrangement for 3 months).
It was also decided that at the beginning of March 2022 the recruitment of a permanent chemist and two new radiographers will proceed, with the aim of operating the Chemistry and Radiology Departments on a 24-hour basis, with an on-call system for evenings, weekends and holidays.

It was also decided to immediately advertise 2 new positions for 2 new doctors from the Department of Medical Services, in order to adequately staff the Department, as well as the coverage of doctors of specialties from the Paphos General Hospital for 3 months from 01/02-2022 to 30/04/2022 for the specialties: Gynaecologist, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Cardiologist and at the end of the period, re-evaluation of the issue.
In addition, the announcement continues, it was decided to advertise a permanent position of Cardiologist from March 2022 to cover the City Hospital on a 24-hour basis.
In the context of the meeting, the statement adds, the Minister's personal commitment was made before the leadership of the OCYPY that with the improvement of the epidemiological situation of the pandemic and the decongestion of the covid wards of the Limassol and Paphos Hospitals, the inpatient wards of the City Hospital will be reopened and the specialist doctors and nurses will return, the statement concludes.
