It will be a very heavy price to pay for the lack of a plan in tourism, which has been suffering for the past two years, said the president of the hoteliers' association, Dimay Chayner, noting that one of the biggest problems in tourism is transportation.
According to GMP, in a statement to an online channel in the occupied territories, Chayiner said that high air ticket prices "turned the door of tourism to Larnaca." For this reason, he added, they have become dependent on "southern Cyprus" for tourism, in his words.
He argued that it is highly necessary to ensure some facilities for crossings at the barricades and added that to do so, one only needs to look at what is happening in the rest of the world (in relation to the pandemic).
Noting that "southern Cyprus", in his words, "worked with a plan on tourism during the pandemic", Chayner said that "we too are looking to get 2-3 seats from flights to Larnaca. We can foresee that we will not be able to use Tybu. With these ticket prices it is not possible to bring tourists from Europe."
