Heavy "bells" of thousands of euros to a supermarket and a betting agency for violation of measures 23 complaints for violation of COVID-19 measures, fines of thousands of euros to establishments

In the last 24 hours, the police filed complaints against 18 citizens and 5 establishments, after 2.308 checks carried out nationwide, in order to ascertain compliance with and implementation of the provisions of the Infectious Diseases Law.

As a spokesman for the Police Headquarters Communication Branch told the Cyprus News Agency, 695 checks were carried out in Nicosia, during which 6 citizens complained, while in Limassol 144 checks were carried out, which resulted in 4 complaints from citizens.

In Larnaca 506 checks were carried out and 4 citizens and 2 premises were complained about, in Paphos 137 checks were carried out, which resulted in 1 citizen and 3 premises being complained about, in Famagusta 412 checks were carried out and 3 citizens were complained about, while in the Morphou area 148 checks were carried out, with no complaints.

Also, nationwide, the Traffic Police carried out 251 checks without any complaints, while the Port and Maritime Police carried out 15 checks without any complaints.

In relation to the fines, among those that stand out is an extrajudicial fine of 3.000 euros issued to a betting agency in the Paphos district, because there was no person at the entrance of the agency checking for a safepass, while there was a customer inside the agency without being a safepass holder.

Also in Larnaca, a supermarket was fined 4,000 euros because its employees did not wear a mask and were not in possession of a safepass.
