The 44-year-old brother of the confessed killer's brother is before the Limassol Court Placed under 7-day detention All under the microscope of investigators who know that there are still several gaps He went to the cottage on the days in question but has no idea about the crime, says the 44-year-old He took a gun and hid it
With investigators "illuminating" one by one the aspects, but recognizing that there are still gaps behind the brutal crime involving the two Russian women victims, the 44-year-old Syrian man who was arrested yesterday was brought before the Limassol District Court this morning and remanded in custody for a period of 7 days.
As already reported in previous publications, this is the brother of the 32-year-old confessed murderer, who seems to have not wanted to involve him in the case, insisting that on the fatal night and the next morning he was alone with the two women in the cottage.
As heard before the Court by the investigator in the case, the 44-year-old's mobile phone was transmitting a signal from Kato Asbestos although in his first statement taken on November 30 he had said that he had met with his brother on November 16 and 17 but at the latter's workplace in Limassol.
The half admission and the claim that he had no idea about the crime
Interrogated after his arrest, the 44-year-old changed his claim. As heard in Courthe placed himself at the scene at the time in question on November 16 and 17, but denied any involvement in the crimeHe claimed that although he was at the cottage on November 16, he remained outside for fear that someone would harm his brother, while on November 17 he said he returned Limassol, picked up a second person and headed back to the cottage. About the pit, he said he saw two unknown foreign workers digging it, but he did not know why this was happening. He even said that he stayed there until they finished and transported the two persons back to Limassol.
According to what the investigator of the case told the Court, the 44-year-old said that he neither knew about dead bodies, nor that his brother was committing murders and that he was not present during their commission.
The investigator also referred to testimony secured that on a particular day, after the arrest of the 32-year-old perpetrator and while the 44-year-old was at his workplace in Limassol, he received a phone call. Subsequently, after the phone call, he went to the admitted perpetrator's work car, picked up a firearm and transferred it to another vehicle because the police would be coming.
He said they insulted the perpetrator's religion and his manhood
Yesterday, a few hours before proceeding with the new arrest, Limassol CID investigators brought the 32-year-old confessed perpetrator to court, whose detention order was renewed for another 8 days.
According to a previous report, the 32-year-old apparently claimed to investigators that the killing was preceded by an altercation with the two women over issues involving his religionand masculinity. He even says one of them threatened to report him for rape. He then clouded up and killed them, he said under questioning.
