Police are investigating a case of car theft in Limassol, members of which proceeded to arrest a 24-year-old to facilitate interrogations.

The case was reported to police at around 7.10pm yesterday by the 30-year-old owner of the vehicle. According to the complainant her car was stolen yesterday, between the hours of 4pm and 6.15pm, while parked on a road in Limassol.

Around 7.20pm, the 30-year-old woman spotted her car parked outside a kiosk in Limassol. Inside the vehicle, in the passenger seat, was an unidentified man. The 30-year-old woman approached the vehicle and when she spoke to the stranger, he fled running.

Subsequently, the complainant called the police. Members of the Police attended the scene and after a search of the vehicle a mobile phone and a credit card, issued in the name of a 24 year old, were found,[/B] which were taken as evidence.

The 24 year old was summoned to the St. John Police Station and when questioned he allegedly made some allegations, which are being investigated. A warrant of arrest was issued against him under which he was arrested and taken into custody to facilitate investigations.

The St. John Police Station is investigating the case.
