An assessment of the epidemiological situation in our country will be made on the 14th:30, in the presence of the Minister of Health, Michael Hadjipandela, in order to assess whether we should proceed with new measures, or recommendations. Afterwards, at 16:00 the Health Minister will make a statement.
As reported by the Cyprus Times this morning, the focus is expected to be on the measures in force announced last week by the Government and the necessary evaluation, with epidemiologists asking for time in order to have a better picture of the data.
It is reported that at this stage most experts are not expected to recommend new more stringent measures as they want to see in practice how the existing ones are working.
All eyes are on the hospitals and the situation due to the rapid spread of the Omicron mutation in the community and this is certainly something that will be on the agenda of today's meeting.
The issue of reducing quarantine to 5 days instead of the current 10[/B][/B] will also be raised again. However, experts, as we were told by a competent source, will evaluate how the quarantine reduction has worked for health professionals and decide whether it can be implemented immediately for the general population. Some of the experts suggest reducing it to 7 days rather than 5 days.
Remote is the possibility of imposing the measure of banning movement of citizens even though 2 of the epidemiologists put it on the table. A scenario that was ruled out when speaking to the Cyprus Times by a competent source at the Health Ministry.
