The mandatory wearing of masks outdoors is lifted, entertainment centres open in France
The relaxation of restrictive measures against the pandemic, in two phases from next month, was announced today by French Prime Minister Jean Castex.
From Wednesday 2 February, it will no longer be compulsory to wear a mask outdoors. Also, teleworking will not be compulsory, although it will still be recommended and it will be up to businesses and workers whether and to what extent to continue it.
The cap on the number of spectators who can attend matches will be lifted at stadiums, and the health protocol at schools will be relaxed. Prime Minister Castex also announced that nightclubs will reopen from 16 February.
However, the so-called "vaccination pass" required to enter restaurants, cafes and cinemas will come into force on January 24, if approved by the Constitutional Council, Castex said, adding that it could be abolished once the country's epidemiological picture improves significantly.
Today France announced that 425 vaccinations were recorded in the last 24 hours.183 new cases of coronavirus and 251 deaths, while the number of patients with Covid-19 hospitalised in intensive care units (ICU) is stabilising.
Prime Minister Castex finally urged parents with children aged 5-11 years to vaccinate them and added that the vaccination of adolescents aged 12-17 years with the so-called booster dose was already in place.[/B]
