Theophany or Lights today and in Cyprus, even under the conditions of Coronation, one of the great feasts of the Greek Orthodox calendar is celebrated. The waters are sanctified, the priest carols the houses and the goblins are exorcised with sausages and dry sausages, while the children, although sparsely and rarely nowadays, say the traditional "good morning and lights and polustrina first".

In addition to the customs, according to the Christian Orthodox religion, during Epiphany the Trinity of God, the Holy Trinity, was revealed. But they are also called Lights, because in the early Christian years, on the eve of Epiphany, the followers of the new religion were baptized.

The day of Epiphany begins with the church service of the faithful. In the churches, the service of the Great Hours is sung. Afterwards, the priest and the faithful will leave the temple and head to the place where the immersion of the Cross will take place. In the sea, in a lake or river, or even on a platform in the churchyard on which, in a special vessel, the ceremony will take place. The bells signify rejoicing and the priest, throwing the cross into the water, chants Thy baptism in the Jordan, O Lord. The brave swimmers will fall into the cold water to catch the cross. The one who catches the cross is considered lucky and blessed.

Lights in Cyprus are celebrated with special arrangements today. Of the pandemic, but also of the occupation. Which is not enough to stand in the way of the residents of the area of Yialousa reuniting at the Holy Trinity and the people of Famagusta returning to their homeland to relive moments of a peaceful past.
