Finland has taken a similar decision, but has not announced when it will put it into effect German ban for three months
Germany has imposed a three-month ban on the passage of Russian flights through its airspace as of today, the German Transport Ministry announced.
"The Transport Ministry has imposed a flight ban on Russian aircraft and aircraft operators in and over German airspace," the ministry said, adding that the order is valid for three months.
Earlier, the Draghi government made it known that Italy had decided to close its airspace to Russian aircraft, while the governments of Finland and Denmark issued similar announcements.
Finland, which shares at least 1,300 km of border with Russia, "is preparing to close airspace to Russian air traffic," Transport Minister Timo Haraka said in a tweet posted overnight. It was not specified when the measure would take effect.
This morning Denmark also announced the closure of its airspace to Russian aircraft, including private jets.
