Funding of 288 thousand for works at the Menoyia HOKAM, the Police informs
The Cyprus Police has secured funding from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and the Republic of Cyprus, amounting to €288.258, for the purpose of improving the detention and living conditions of administrative detainees at the Menoyia Detention Centre for Forbidden Migrants (HOKAM).
The implementation of the project, code CY/ 2021/ AMIF/ SO3.NO1.1.3, started on 1 September 2021 and will end on 31 December 2022.
The co-financing is shared at a rate of 90% by the European Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and 10% by the Republic of Cyprus. The final beneficiary of the project is the Cyprus Police.
In the framework of this Grant Agreement, the following actions will be implemented
- Employment of a psychiatrist, a trainer and a social worker
- Purchase and installation of new modern digital monitoring systems, to ensure the mental health of prisoners, to provide counselling support, empowerment, information and skills training, as well as to improve their physical health through physical education/physical exercise.
The aim of the project is to ensure the mental health of the prisoners, to provide counselling support, empowerment, information and cultivation of skills, as well as to improve their physical health through physical education/physical exercise.
Furthermore, by upgrading the Security Systems in the area, in addition to its effective security, the life and personal safety of the prisoners is protected.
The Cyprus Police attaches particular importance to the qualitative and creative occupation of those staying at HOKAM in Menoyia and intensifies its efforts in this direction.
