From next Friday the "test to stay" measure will also be applied to the National Guard, according to a decision of the Council of Ministers.

Specifically, the Council of Ministers, which met today under the President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades, after about two hours, announced the new decisions taken.


Detailed decisions:

- Approved the introduction of the "Test to Stay" measure in the National Guard. The implementation date of the measure is 11 February 2022.

- Confirmed the decision of the Board of Directors of RIK for the appointment of Mr. Athanasios Tsokkos to the position of Director General as of 14 February 2022 for a period of 5 years.

- Approved the Financial Assistance Plan for the Occasional Residents and Resettlers in the Communities of Rizokarpaso and Agia Triada for the necessary renovation/repair of their old houses.

The total number of beneficiaries is estimated at approximately 65 persons and the total cost for the implementation of the Plan is estimated at 400,000 Euros, which on the basis of the newly established procedures will be provided through the Ministry of Interior. The proposed sponsorship amount for each house is set at 6,000 Euros which will be granted in a lump sum.



The project under consideration enjoys the support of all parties and is supported by the members of the Community Councils and the organised bodies of the two communities mentioned above.
