Five contracts are tendered for the Larnaca sewerage system

Five contracts in total, concerning the Municipality of Dromolaxia - Meneos and the Communities of Kition, Pervolion and Tercefano, are expected to be tendered within the next two months by the Larnaca Sewerage Board (LSC), as part of the third phase of the city's sewerage system.

As Larnaca Drainage Board General Manager Angelos Hadjicharalambous told CNA, "in about two months we expect to tender five contracts concerning areas southwest of Larnaca airport, with construction works to start before the end of the year. The contracts are being tendered as part of the third phase of the sewerage system expansion and concern the municipality of Dromolaxia Meneos and the communities of Kition, Pervolia and Tercefano."

He added that "plans for the expansion of the sewerage system in the Aradippou municipality will follow soon."

In response to a question, Hatzicharalambous said that "according to the Council's plans, the works are expected to start from the areas near the Wastewater Treatment Plant and will move backwards. That is, the works will start from Meneu and Dromolaxia, move on to the Pervolia coastal area, followed by Kiti and Tercefanu. Immediately after the completion of the network, each area will be immediately connected to the Wastewater Treatment Plant."

He further explained that "the aim of the project is to construct the network for the transfer of urban wastewater from the settlements of Dromolaxia - Meneou, Kiti, Pervolia and Tersefanou to the existing Larnaca Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), located east of the study area and south of Larnaca airport."

He further explained that "the aim of the project is to construct the network for the transfer of urban wastewater from the settlements of Dromolaxia - Meneou, Kiti, Pervolia and Tersefanou to the existing Larnaca Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), which is located east of the study area and south of Larnaca airport.

To another question he replied that "the project includes gravity networks of about 147Km length (central collectors and internal sewerage networks), domestic connections, eight central sewage pumping stations for the low-lying areas, and then this network of central depression pipelines (pressure pipelines) with a total length of about 9km. Once operational, the project will cover the needs of about 29 thousand inhabitants of the region, while 40 thousand inhabitants are foreseen by 2060."
